Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)

Description

This is an 80 hour class. 60 hours are completed in the classroom and 20 hours are completed in an approved clinical site. Upon class completion the student will be able to work in a hospital, lab or doctor’s office and perform venipuncture and microcapillary sticks on adults.

Class topics include:

  • First aid
  • CPR-American Heart
  • Blood borne pathogen training in accordance to ASHI standards
    (with completion cards given)
  • Be eligible to take the NHA Phlebotomy exam.

Between 2014 and 2024, there will be an 25 % increase in jobs created for Phlebotomists.*

This class also counts towards 80 of the 280 hours needed to complete our Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Program (CCMA).

The CCMA program consists of: 
EKG 65 hours     
Phlebotomy 80 hours     
CCMA 135 hours     

CCMA Prerequisite

To become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) you must complete the following 3 classes:  EKG  (CET), Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) and Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Class
