Certified Clinical Medical Assistant - CCMA

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)

280-Hour Training Program in Lexington, KY

Description

Certified Clinical Medical Assistants make a difference every day.

Medical assistants are critical members of healthcare teams in a variety of medical settings. You are often the first and last person a patient interacts with, making a lasting impact on the patient’s experience. Medical Assistants are flexible, performing a variety of tasks such as:

  • Taking patient vital signs
  • Assisting providers with exams and procedures
  • Administering injections or medications
  • Performing EKG, phlebotomy, and other essential laboratory procedures
  • Checking patients in and out upon arrival and departure
  • Answering phone calls and questions
  • Updating and maintaining electronic health records (EHR)

You must complete three classes to complete your CCMA program:

  1. Phlebotomy - Phlebotomy meets in person Monday through Thursday for 2 weeks, 8 am – 4pm. You will then be scheduled for your 40 hours of clinicals.
  2. EKG - EKG meets Monday through Thursday for 2 weeks, 8 am – 4pm. There are no clinicals with this class.
  3. CCMA - The CCMA class is a hybrid course for 3 weeks plus clinicals. You will attend an orientation, where you get the syllabus, get logged into the course, and have lectures over the first few chapters. Class will meet on Fridays to discuss and take exams. Your last two days of class will be practicing skills. The instructor will schedule 80 – 120 hours of clinicals depending on the clinical site.

Our Grads Are Working All Over Kentucky

Lexington

Because KHT operates out of Lexington, we have hundreds of connections throughout the region. One of this is Cedarhurst Senior Living with locations in both Lexington and Owensboro. They focus on creating a strong job atomosphere, and they have helped our grads find strong jobs with upward mobility for continued career growth.

Louisville

Louisville is Kentucky's largest city with more than 1 million people living in the greater metro. Baptist Health has a major hospital in Louisville and employs more than 23,000 people in Kentucky and surrounding states. Our grads live and work throughout the Louisville metro, serving patients every day with skills from KY Healthcare Training.

Northern Kentucky

Touting a metro population of 2 million, Cincinnati is a favorite with our grads as they work in Northern Kentucky.  Cincinnati Children's Hospital is one of the regions hospitals, employing more than 16,000 people.  Our grads love working at one of the top-three ranked hospitals in the nation, according to US News & World Report.

Having no medical experience at all, Eric Linville, Janet Buffin, and Cee made my experience above and beyond what I expected. I couldn't have asked for better CCMA teachers! Thank you all!

"So far. The clinicals (included in the program) were a great experience. I am starting the CCMA program on Nov 4 and will update my review, if necessary. But overall I would recommend this program to anyone interested in entering the field."
